Blue rattlepod (Crotalaria verrucosa)
It is an erect herb with purple-white flowers. The common name rattlepod is derived from the fact that the seeds become loose in the pod as they mature, and rattle when the pods are shaken. It is used in traditional medicine as an antidiabetic, to treat skin conditions, fever, blood impurities, throat and mouth diseases and heart ailments.
It is an important butterfly attractant. It is a nectar plant for Common crow (Euploea core) and Plain tiger (Danaus chrysippus) butterfly.
