Parijatha (Nyctanthes arbor-tristis)
Paarijata is a short tree with tooth-edged leaves and small, fragrant white flowers which blooms at night. The orange flower stalks were used to prepare a dye which was particularly used to stain silk and cotton in the olden days. Buddhist robes are dyed with these flowers. The people of Tripura predict the weather and rainfall based on the flowering.
